My humble efforts to paint began when participating in a watercolor painting group led by a dear friend who is also a well known prophetic artist. After sharing with her a very vivid dream I had the week before, she encouraged me to try to put it on paper.
I’m no artist, that’s for sure! But increasingly the Lord will speak to me through word pictures or images that develop in my spirit and imagination. And sometimes, if I’m quiet and can get my “self” out of the way, I can actually visualize colors and shapes emerge, like I’m being shown how to bring to life the word picture that He has put on my heart.
When I compare my “artwork” to that of my much more gifted friends, I am utterly embarrassed and want to crawl under the table. That is when I have to remind myself that I’m not trying to create art … I’m trying to create word pictures, most of which are featured in my blog posts.
