I always try to have a journal handy in the morning. Sometimes I use it to capture thoughts that come to me during my morning devotions. Sometimes I write about yesterday or what is ahead of me today. Sometimes I write as though I were speaking with God.
This morning, my first words were “Lord, I am in need”. Then I put the journal down to go refill my coffee cup, and on the way (in all of 5 steps) I hear a voice from within bring to my recollection a passage from Psalm.
“The Lord is my Shepherd, I (you) shall not want (lack/need).”
Coffee cup refilled, I settle back down and continued on in my writing:
“But I am in need, or at least it sure feels like it.”
And again, another Scripture:
“You have not because you ask not.”
Hmm. I guess sometimes I just assume that He knows what I want and what I need. And of course, He does – even before I ask it.
But that doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t be asking.
I would love to hear your thoughts.
